Our ladies in our Sunday school class had our Christmas luncheon at Olexa's on Wednesday, December 18. The service was great and the food was amazing. I highly recommend Olexa's for your dining pleasure.

The service is amazing! We have used Olexas for years and she never disappoints. I Ordered my birthday cake and she surprised me with the shape I wanted and I was so happy I cried in the Cafe. The staff is so sweet and professional but very caring. Olexas Cafe is the only bakery I would choose. They are beautifully decorated, they taste amazing and her prices are also affordable.

I love this place . The cakes are amazing and the staff is so courteous to say the least. I wish i could keep this place a secret lol

The most quaint and delicious lunch spot. A top favorite of mine. The seafood salad, seafood crepes, quiche, and EVERY menu item is prepared from scratch. The dill pasta salad is a fave! Service is always wonderful and the staff is warm and friendly.

Absolutely lovely lunch spot! The daily trio is always amazing. Must top it all off with a slice of warmed cake.

Great lunch spot with alot of variety. Now- gentlemen-there will be predominantly women when you walk in but to no avail- there are plenty of things on the menu to choose from if you want something a little heavier than a chicken or turkey sandwich. Olexa is a bakery known for their delicious cake, but the lunch menu is predominantly, soup, salad, sandwiches and a couple of crepe options. What I love is the trio- 1/2 sandwich, cup of soup and choice of salad. I have had both the tomato basil and chicken chili and both are delicious. They have several side salads and I particularly like the Caesar. My lunch partners like the garden salad. The turkey crunch sandwich is good, the steak salad very good and I will try the crepes next. Warm chocolate cake with ice cream or the vanilla buttercream cake room temp are my favorites and the perfect finish to the trio lunch. Usually crowded with a 10 minute wait- service efficient, staff polite and food consistently good.

HUGS AND QUICHES! Have you ever wanted to feel like you are in another part of the world without leaving Birmingham? Well Olexa's Cafe is the place for you. As soon as you walk inside this amazing cafe you feel as though you are transported to a different country in a different city. The decor is fabulous. From the street lamps to what windows this place has charm. Came here on a Tuesday afternoon. Maybe around 1pm. I was trying to avoid the lunch rush, but also possibly catch the tail end of it. I came alone. I was seated at a table close to the front but not next to any of the windows. It was a quiet spot and perfect for a quaint lunch. When I first walked inside I was greeted with a smile. Brought to a table and asked right off the bat what I wanted to drink. I ordered an Arnold Palmer (half lemonade half iced tea). This is a southern classic for drinks. But I do not get the sweet tea and lemonade as a traditional Arnold Palmer is supposed to be unsweetened with lemonade, taking the sweetness from the lemonade. I feel as though where they seated me was a blessing and a curse. It was a blessing because it was quiet and quaint, as previously stated. Though it was a curse in the sense of not being noticed or having trouble waving down a waitress to order. Olexa's is a French inspired restaurant with lunch and dinner seatings (only on Tuesdays). The menu is simple and easy. Lots of classic southern favorites like pimento cheese, chicken salad, soups to name a few. I have to say that Olexa's reminds me of a tea house back home in Naples FL called Brambles. Not because they have a tea menu, but because of the types of people who come inside. These people are much more of the upper class type of people. They have high expectations too, but Olexa's can handle that of course. I have been craving and I mean craving some quiche for a while now. As much as I would love to say Birmingham has plenty of spots to get quiche, I can't because I can really only think of two spots in town. Olexa's and Continental bakery. Though at Continental bakery, the quiche is more of a take home and bake yourself type of ordeal whereas at Olexa's it is offered as a lunch option. They seem to have a quiche of the day each day of the week. I got very lucky as quiche Lorraine (ham and Swiss) quiche was on the menu today. I am not sure if this is an every day occurrence as quiche Lorraine has to be a fan favorite, but I'm just going to go with the idea that I got lucky. I ordered a slice of the quiche Lorraine with a side of fruit. When it got to my table it was a decently cut slice of quiche with a beautiful arrangement of fruit and a small muffin on the side. Olexa's is definitely an experience. Wonderful smiling faces and diverse menu with tons of options. I will be back for sure. One thing I must note is: they are a little difficult to find on the GPS, but if you think of it in a sense of it is behind Wells Fargo in English Village, I don't think you will get too lost, at least I hope not.

Olexa's is one of my favorite places to visit for cake and for a sandwich/soup lunch combo. They always have trios where you can get soup, a sandwich, and a salad. I have had quite a few items from Olexa's, as it is a part of my regular lunch rotation. The staff takes extra precautions and they are always friendly. Even when there is a wait, it is not for very long. They always manage to get your food out in a timely manner when you are dining in. If you are stopping there for dessert or to pick up, they have a separate section where you can place TO GO orders. The staff will also help you decide if you are a first timer and don't know which cake to get. The desserts are so good. They probably have some of the best cakes in Birmingham. I love getting their Cloud 9 dessert. It comes in a martini glass and the cake is smashed and it comes with whipped cream and strawberries. It is heavenly!!! I have a hard time deciding which is my favorite cake, but it is definitely between the chocolate and red velvet. While they are known for their cakes, please do not sleep on the other menu items. The quiche is a yes!!! They also have some of the best white chicken chili that I have ever tasted! I would strongly encourage you to consider them as a lunch option.

I finally got the chance to try out Olexa's and I was extremely satisfied!! It really is a cute space and their cakes are delicious! My friend and I got TO GO dessert after having lunch in the area. I ordered a slice of carrot cake and a slice of chocolate cake. ( I didn't eat them both ) . Both were equally yummy and satisfying! In stock they also had red velvet and vanilla cakes slices. Of course , they had other lovely cookies , goodies , etc. I definitely plan on trying lunch and exploring other menu items from here really soon! The staff was quite friendly and helpful.
